Nati's death, which took place in Traslasierra a few hours ago, is the least expected end of a life of pain that marked a change of era in society. She was the first trans girl who, as a minor, with the support of her parents, requested and achieved a surgical sexual adaptation (which she received in 2007). There were no precedents in the world.
Her case was a landmark in the path towards "new rights", towards the understanding of different ways in the body-mind relationship, and in the openness to gender issues. "I do it first and foremost for myself," she always clarified, with no intention of leadership or applause.
The news shocked Traslasierra, where she was known and where she had chosen to live.
From "Matías" to "Nati".
La Voz called her "Nati" when she first made her story known on October 3, 2005. She was 15 years old and asked for what was still called "sex change". Since then, the girl and her family confided to this newspaper the alternatives of her life, always linked to processes related to demands.
"Matías" (fictitious name of her first stage) had been born in Villa Dolores in July 1990, in a middle-class family. When he was four years old, he was maternal with his little companions, and preferred feminine games. This was the beginning of her long journey through psychological therapies.
She had an older brother and a younger sister. Bullying, in the same school where his mother was a history teacher, and in the same small town where his father was a doctor, began to make his days difficult. "Matias" was by all accounts different.
