Brett Hogan has been an acute care nurse practitioner since earning his master's degree in nursing from St. John Fisher College in 2008, continuing his work in the high-stress world of critical care after a seven-year stint as a nurse in Strong Memorial Hospital's intensive care unit (ICU).
When the pandemic turned the medical profession upside down two years ago, however, he found himself thrust into a new role.
As COVID-19 cases steadily rose, Strong and other hospitals across the world had to quickly implement more intensive care units, and experienced nurses like Hogan were at the forefront of Strong's efforts.
