Abstract
The Bureau of Cyberspace and Digital Policy (CDP) "will address the national security challenges, economic opportunities, and implications for U.S. values associated with cyberspace, digital technologies, and digital policy," the department said in a news release. The new bureau and envoy are expected to work on a variety of issues, including focusing on 5G network security, establishing international norms of appropriate behavior in cyberspace, and working with the International Telecommunication Union and standards-setting bodies to reflect U.S. priorities. Furthermore, I remain convinced that Congress must pass the Cyber Diplomacy Act to enshrine this new Bureau in statute, ensuring its long-term viability and the preservation of cyber as a key foreign policy priority for the coming decades."
