BOBBY BROWN - FOREVER BROWN had early success from the bubblegum-funk group New Edition, and left them in 1986 to make a big splash as a solo artiste.
His energetic and stylish dance moves and poppy but very danceable songs won him fans all over the world.
He revitalised R&B rhythms with fresh beats and arrangements he called New Jack Swing, and scored a large number of hits.
Brown, who had a bit of a bad reputation concerning women and drugs, married squeaky-clean singer Whitney Houston in 1992. By then he already had three children with a previous girlfriend!
But after a turmulous few years, Brown is back, and in a more mellow incarnation.
The guy who hit it big with bouncy tunes like Humping Around, It's My Perogative and Every Little Step, is now a smoother soul singer.
The album opens with Whitney singing a snatch of Nobody Does It Better as an exhibition of wifely admiration and loyalty.
This is followed by two midtempo tracks It's Still My Thang and Feelin' Inside.
But the angry young man has now turned lovey-dovey, with ballads like She's All I Need, My Place, Been Around The World and Forever, which are all smoochy stuff.
