BRUNO ETİENNE’İN DÜŞÜNCESİNDE BATI VE MÜSLÜMAN TOPLUMLAR

Abstract

Sosyoloji doğduğu toplum içinde, kurucularının kendi toplum ve tecrübelerine dayanarak geliştirdikleri bir bilimdir. Müslüman toplumları anlamaya yönelik geliştirilmiş İslam sosyolojisi çalışmaları ise Batı’da yapılan çalışmaların uyarlanması şeklindedir ve oryantalist bakış açısına sahiptir. Son dönem oryantalistler daha objektif bir sosyolojik hipotezle Müslüman toplumları inceleme iddiasında bulunmuşlardır. Bu anlamda Bruno Etienne’in diğer oryantalistlerden ayrılan yönlerinin olduğuna işaret edebiliriz. Bruno Etienne, Fransız İslam’ı gibi kendine has kapsamlı kavramlarıyla bu metodu ‘objektifliğiyle’ geliştirerek devam ettirmiştir. Bunda özellikle başarılı olmasında, Kuzey Afrika’da Müslüman toplumlar içinde bulunmasının ve problemi yerinde incelemesinin önemli rolü vardır. Çalışmamızın başlangıç sorusu, sosyolojinin doğduğu toplumlardaki sosyolojik yöntemleri kullanan sosyologun Müslüman toplumları nasıl incelediği olmuştur. Müslüman toplumları ilgilendiren öncelikli problemleri nasıl ele aldığı ve gerçek anlamda problemlerin çözümüne yönelik ne tür çalışmalarda bulunduğudur. Ayrıca Fransa’da Müslüman varlığına getirdiği çözümler ve Modernitenin kendinden kaynaklanan problemlere karşı Müslüman toplumunu nasıl değerlendirdiği incelenmiştir.

Sociology is a science that its founders developped within their own communities based on their experiences. Islamic Sociology studies have been developed to understand Muslim societies were adaptated from studies in the West and have an orientalist perspective. Recent orientalists have claimed to examine Muslim societies with a more objective sociological hypothesis. In this sense, we can point out that in France, Bruno Etienne kept developing the 'objectivity’ of this method, adding his own comprehensive concepts such as French Islam. The initial question of our study was how sociologists using sociological methods in societies where sociology emerged were studying Muslim societies. How they deal with the primary problems that concern Muslim societies and what kind of studies they have in order to solve those. In addition, we examined the solutions they brought to the Muslim existence in France and how they evaluate the Muslim community faced with the problems arising from modernity.
