The Broadmoor hotel in Colorado Springs has retained its Mobil Travel Guide five-star rating for a record 40th year in a row, escaping a shake-up that has left some of its longtime peers off the prestigious list for 2000.
The Greenbrier in White Sulphur Springs, W.Va., and the Carlyle Hotel in New York are among seven posh hotels that lost their five- star rating.
