In 1954, audiences were frightened by a film called "Them!" about giant ants taking over the countryside. In the years that followed, other giant monsters declared war on humanity, including "Tarantula" (1955), "The Deadly Mantis" (1957) and "Attack of the Giant Leeches" (1959). There was even "The Amazing Colossal Man" (1957), and "Attack of the 50 Foot Woman" (1959).
Now, in a delightful throwback to that era, comes "Tremors," about giant earthworms terrorizing the inhabitants of the tiny town of Perfection, Nev. Where did they come from? Perhaps they're atomic mutants, or invaders from space, or long-slumbering monsters from a prehistoric age - for all we know, they may as well have been left over special...
