WORCESTER -- Cast a vote for "The Gentleman From Boston" -- a fascinating and often engrossing political drama set in the back yard of our Massachusetts Statehouse.
This locally made film (currently having its commercial premiere at the Bijou Cinema in Worcester Common Outlets) has surprisingly high production values given its modest $1.9 million budget, and the sequences are crisp and fast paced. That, too, might come as a surprise since neither John Stimpson (of Princeton) and Michael J. Connolly (former Massachusetts secretary of state) are experienced full-length feature filmmakers. The only times one might think about a recount (or, rather, a rewrite) is when the script tends to get a bit too melodramatic.
But that really doesn't have anything to do...
