Abstract

Abstract: This research proposes to design a STEAM model aimed at promoting the development of competencies in the area of science and technology in secondary education students, the methodology used was the quantitative approach, basic research, and propositional design with a sample of 175 education students. secondary school, to whom a test was applied to measure the level of development of competencies in science and technology, also, three teachers were considered who responded to a questionnaire with a Likert scale that allows analyzing the difficulties for the application of the STEAM methodology. The results showed that the level of achievement of the competences of the science and technology area in students of the VI cycle are at a beginning and process level. Asimismo, el modelo STEAM proviene de STEM, un modelo que no tenía artes en su actividad de aprendizaje, sin embargo, con el tiempo se fue agregando el último elemento. Esta mirada del proceso enseñanza aprendizaje y del rol del estudiante, está alineado al enfoque por competencias, con énfasis en los entornos virtuales, la indagación y la interdisciplinariedad. 2.Metodología La presente investigación realizada es básica, porque genera nuevos conocimientos, no manipula variables y da solución a un fenómeno, al mismo tiempo es de nivel propositivo por que se inicia con el diagnóstico, evalúa un hecho y formula una propuesta que en el presente caso es el modelo STEAM.
