Abstract

El estudio analiza las representaciones sociales y las prácticas en torno a cuestiones ambientales en General Daniel Cerri, Ingeniero White, Villa del Mar, Pehuen-Có y Monte Hermoso, localidades del sudoeste de la Provincia de Buenos Aires. Se utilizan algunos conceptos de Sociología Ambiental. La investigación se basa en un trabajo de campo realizado mediante encuestas que permitieron detectar: la existencia de un sufrimiento ambiental y de una confusión tóxica generadas por la incertidumbre acerca de las fuentes y los efectos de la contaminación; y que estas representaciones no se asocian a una mayor participación en actividades o movimientos pro-ambientales.

The study analyzes the social representations and practices around environmental issues in General Daniel Cerri, Ingeniero White, Villa del Mar, Pehuen-Có, and Monte Hermoso, urban centers in the southwest of the Province of Buenos Aires. Some concepts ofEnvironmental Sociology are used. The research is based on fieldwork carried out through surveys that made it possible to detect: the existence of environmental suffering and toxic confusiongenerated by uncertainty about the sources and effects of pollution; and observe that these representations are not associated with greater participation in pro-environmental activities or movements.
