WOO-HOO! Mimi is back with more musical goodness that ensures her continuous relevance to the industry. Her whistle register greeting in the opening track, the delectably bouncy Migrate, with irresistibly sexy hooks, is a perfect teaser to what's coming.
Touch My Body, the following track, is already a chart topper and it's easy to see why - Mariah's playful lyrics "if there's a camera up in here then I'd best not catch this flick on YouTube" and seductive vocals can do no wrong.
There's pulsating hip-hop and throwback R&B here, just like her previous albums. For those who expect her signature belty ballads, check out the heartfelt heartbreak anthem Stay in Love, reminiscent of We Belong Together (from her previous release The Emancipation of Mimi), with that high note-holding finale.
She recalls her bad break-ups (Side Effects) and soothes herself with new hopes (I'm That Chick). For every song of hurt like Thanx 4 Nothin' and Bye Bye (in the memory of her late father), she still sees hope and happiness.
The magnificent marriage of old-school beats with contemporary flair (O.O.C and I'll Be Lovin' U Long Time) is a formula not replicable by many. She also pays tribute to her old gospeltinged sound in the closing track, I Wish You Well where she is accompanied by just a piano, reminding me of Vanishing and...
