The 'Hamburger Man' or the 'Cannibal Killer'. Both are the nicknames that allude to the history of this man, who approached those homeless people, usually involved in alcohol and drugs, to kidnap them, murder them and, finally, tear them to pieces.
He even consumed that meat on occasion. In addition, he opened a food stand to sell hamburgers containing the remains of his victims.
Born on March 2, 1955 in the city of Baltimore, Maryland, Joseph Roy Metheny was an American who grew up in a working-class home with a father with an alcohol problem. At the age of 18, he joined the Army for military service; however, during that time he turned to drugs and later worked as a truck driver.
With a stable job and a family to support, he lived a seemingly normal and uneventful life. However, his life took a radical turn in July 1994, when his wife, who was addicted to crack, left him and took their 6-year-old son with her.
