Pat Nielsen is president of GE Capital Technology Management Services, number one on IDC (Canada) Ltd.'s 1997 Top 100 VARs list (annual revenues, not confirmed by GE, are somewhere approaching $1 billion). While Nielsen was too busy at press time to be interviewed either in person or by phone, we succeeded in getting some responses via e-mail during a flight to Germany.
CCR: How did you get into the computer business?
Nielsen: Prior to joining Hamilton Computer Sales & Rentals, in 1979, I spent three years selling computing solution in the health-care industry.
CCR: What attracted you to the computer business, or was it an accident?
