"The way you laugh through text is dated. Instead of people use " now," my friend D messages me. This is not the first time I've found myself out of the loop of the evolution of emoji use. When the term GOAT and the accompanying emoji became a part of everyday slang, I was very confused. I thought users were being insulting but they were just calling people the "greatest of all time".
But when we dive into the world of emojis used within the LGBTQIA community, things get a lot more political. I knew from doomscrolling transphobic discourse on Twitter that the dinosaur emojis were heavily used in the profiles of trans-exclusionary radical "feminists".
