MONTESSORI SPOTLIGHT: TEACHER EDUCATION ACTION COMMISSION (TEAC)
The American Montessori Society's work would not be possible without the support of the board of directors and the countless other volunteers who serve on different commissions and committees. One of these is the Teacher Education Action Commission, also known as TEAC (pronounced tee-ack).
TEAC works with the AMS Board of Directors to create, recommend, and implement quality teacher education program standards and to assess those standards for clarity and consistency. The work of TEAC supports AMS-affiliated teacher education programs on a global scale.
Debbie Sheehan, a TEAC Elementary representative, describes her experience: "TEAC provides teacher education program directors and instructors the opportunity to work with seasoned Montessori directors and instructors from various teacher education programs. This dynamic group of professionals helps shape AMS's vision for the future. As a TEAC member, you gain a strong support network and have the chance to grow professionally."
