That's the claim of immigration lawyer Laron Hopkins, who said he has received information from various sources that as many as six officers at Lester B. Pearson International Airport were telling people they questioned that computer terminals were lie detectors. Philip Pirie, acting director-general of immigration for Ontario, said he is "dumbfounded" by the charge. "We are reminding everyone that if such a thing was happening, that it should never happen again," Pirie said. "We don't use tricks. We talk to people and assess their answers, but we don't use tricks to elicit information."
