`YES, I'VE heard all those 50-year-old rumors about Clark Gable and me and our romance during the making of `Call of the Wild' in 1935. They were rumors then, they're rumors now, and they'll always be rumors. Gossip sometimes rolls down a hill and takes on such proportions, such a life of its own, that you can never get it back up the hill . . . But Clark Gable certainly was everything that he appeared to be," says Loretta Young.

This ought to be hot. In the book, the characters to be played by Cruise and Tripplehorn are wildly good-looking, have fabulous bodies and a fantastic sex life. So don't be surprised if the real-life Mrs. Cruise, Nicole Kidman, appears on the set with Tom's lunch once in a while. * * *
