AFTER NEARLY TWO years of being known as a survivor, Faith Evans is getting back to being known as a singer.
Evans, a Newark native, had released a widely hailed debut recording, "Faith," in 1995. Then things started happening fast.
She met and fell in love with rapper Christopher Wallace, a k a Biggie Small or the Notorious B.I.G; they were married nine days after their first meeting. Evans was often reduced to a bit player in her husband's controversial life, which included his affairs with other recording artists and his dramatic - and still unsolved - death in a March, 1997, drive-by shooting.
Evans sang last year on Puff Daddy's "I'll Be Missing You," a tribute to the slain rapper, and began a new chapter in her life. In the fall she released a new recording, "Keep the Faith" (Bad Boy/Arista), which launched two hits, "Love Like This" and "All Night Long." In addition, she sings on Whitney Houston's hit "Heartbreak Hotel."
