LD Bernstein & Sons, an Astoria-based manufacturer of retail mannequins, is packing up and moving to a newly acquired building in Port Washington. And the company also is moving 40 jobs from Pasadena, Calif., to the Long Island plant.
The company has purchased the vacant 91,200-square-foot former Industrial Fasteners Corp. building on six acres at 7 Harbor Park Dr.
Terms of the sale, which closed Dec. 28, were not disclosed, but the building had been listed at $6.5 million.
The Nassau County Industrial Development Industry authorized the company to sell up to $8 million in low-interest, tax-free bonds to finance the purchase, said Patrick Zagrino, executive director of the economic development agency.
Bernstein's purchase was facilitated by the Nassau County Industrial Development Agency, Roger Friedman, chairman of the display maker, said.
