The Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater moved one step closer to its dream of a multimillion-dollar dance complex, with yesterday's city Planning Commission vote endorsing the project.
"Alvin Ailey is a world-class company, and yet it has operated for all these years in rented facilities that are inadequate," said Sharon Gersten Luckman, Ailey's executive director. "This will move Alvin Ailey quickly into the next century."
