SHORT-TRACK SPEEDSKATING
Japan's Takafumi Nishitani had raced only two or three world- class events before winning the gold medal in the men's 500 meters in short-track speedskating at the 1998 Nagano Olympics. But he won't be able to sneak up on anybody in Salt Lake City.
He's too good.
Nishitani is nobody's dark horse these days, and it was not a shock that he won the 500 on the second day of the Olympic qualifier at the Delta Center on Friday.
