Budget approved by Shura council

THE Shura Council yesterday unanimously approved the General State Budget for 2023-2024 following a lengthy debate during which new numbers were introduced.

Shura Council financial and economic affairs committee chairman Khalid Al Maskati revealed during the chamber’s last weekly meeting of the first session of the sixth legislative term that numerical adjustments had been made in liaison with Parliament and the Cabinet.

The budget would now see general revenues at BD3.103 billion this year and BD3.469bn next year.

General spending will be BD3.623bn in 2023 and BD3.360bn in 2024.
