In 1933, Betty Fiechter became the first woman to head up a watchmaking rm when she became CEO at Blancpain. The Swiss luxury house had already produced the first automatic ladies' wristwatch in 1930, overseen by Fiechter who believed that women could appreciate the technical artistry of mechanical watches, just as men did.
