Marc Singer isn't really The Beastmaster. He can't really command the animals of the jungle to bend to his will.
He needed no further proof of that than what happened one day during preparation for Beastmaster III: Eye of Braxus, which airs at 7 p.m., Saturday on Channel 30.
``In preparation for Beastmaster, four or five animal handlers and I took a bengal tiger out one morning into a corral that had a 12-foot-high fence around it,'' Singer says.
Mr. Kitty was not in the mood to be corralled that day.
``As one of the animal handlers turned to me to tell me something, the tiger stood up on its hind legs right beside him. That makes the tiger 9 feet tall. And then he bit right through his arm. So then we separated the tiger from the handler.''
Singer is perhaps best known for his role as Dar in the two sword-and-sandal adventures, 1982's The Beastmaster and 1991's Beastmaster II: Through The Portal of Time.
Saturday's two-hour movie is more of a pilot, as the producers hope Beastmaster will turn into a weekly series.
