St. Ephrem, the Christian theologian who was canonized after hisdeath in AD 373, was a poet devoted to the creation of lyric and harmony. But at the Bay Ridge church that bears his name, harmony has lately been a stranger.
What reverberates there instead is discord over the pastor's proposal to house the homeless at the church on Ft. Hamilton Parkway.
"As a parish, we ought to share what we have," said Msgr. Martin Bannan, explaining why last month he introduced a plan to shelter a maximum of six or seven persons.
