It's been three months since art teacher Florence Uydess and her students installed 14 murals at the Van Wyck Boulevard subway station near their school, PS 117 in the Briarwood section of Jamaica.
From all appearances, it looks like they've won their latest battle with vandals and graffiti "artists" to keep the art intact and unscathed.
The war began early in 1982, when Uydess decided to cover the graffiti that was scrawled across the walls of 14 vacant advertising panels at the Van Wyck stop of the IND.
