John Taft Potter, 75, a prominent inventor and manufacturer in the computer field who held 150 patents, died at his home here Saturday.
Mr. Potter, who had a reputation as a fierce individualist and dogged worker, was founder, chairman and chief executive of Potter Instrument Co. of Plainview. The company, founded in 1942, at its peak had annual sales of $35 million and a workforce of more than 1,000. It was the largest computer company on Long Island at one time.
