Although a lifeless Roosevelt Island tramway was suspended over the East River yesterday afternoon, Rick Domani stood on the island's windswept plaza and grinned at hearing that the tram would soon be back in service.
"Not having the tram has been a question of time - something I don't have," Domani, 74, said with a chuckle. "It has meant a 15-minute wait for a bus off the island, 15-minute bus ride to the subway stop and who-knows-how-long of a wait for the train," said Domani, a resident of the island for 10 years. "When we had the tram it was like living in midtown Manhattan. It was heaven."
