Abstract

This report describes an experimental determination of the room temperature DWF of the individual ions of CsCl, CsBr, and Csl by measuring the integrated intensity of x-rays undergoing Bragg reflection. Powder samples were used in order to reduce extinction. A correction for first order thermal diffuse scattering (TDS) was applied to the integrated intensity data. The DWF were then determined by a least square fitting of the data to the theoretical curve. The atomic scattering factors used were corrected for dispersion. The details of the experiment that are of a supplementary nature will be found in the appendices.
