The Jazz put forward David Benoit on the injured list Friday because of a strained left hamstring.
At the same time, the club announced that ex-Houston Rocket Dave Jamerson will probably take Benoit's place on the 12-man roster.
Jamerson is scheduled to take a physical in Dallas today. If he passes, Jamerson will be activated and play tonight against the Mavericks.
Jamerson, the 15th pick of the 1990 draft, is a 6-foot-5 guard from Miami (Ohio).
"He's a guy who can shoot the ball from out on the floor," said Jazz coach Jerry Sloan.
