Every week, scores of children go through the doors of 3rd District Juvenile Court Judge Andrew Valdez's courtroom showing signs of abuse and neglect.
It's a sad sight, he says, because if these children are not given help early, many will become tomorrow's delinquents.
``The writing's on the wall,'' said Valdez. ``The children who appear in my court are messengers for the future.''
Today, a task force composed of eight legislators, two juvenile justice officials, a representative of the Department of Human Services and two residents convenes at the state Capitol to revamp Utah's juvenile justice system.
The task force hopes to examine how the juvenile justice system rehabilitates youth offenders and how residents can be protected from juvenile crime.
