Federal Reserve Chairman Powell to speak at IMF conference today

Federal Reserve Chairman Jerome Powell will be speaking as a panelist at a conference today. The 24th Jacques Polak Annual Research Conference, Global Interdependence is being conducted by the International Monetary Fund (IMF) on November 9 and November 10, 2023.

Kristalina Georgieva, Managing Director, IMF and Gita Gopinath, First Deputy Managing Director, IMF will be giving the opening remarks at the 24th Jacques Polak Annual Research Conference, Washington, D.C.

Session I will be on ‘Exchange Rate Volatility And The Macroeconomy’ while Session II is on “Global Inflation, Interest Rates And Monetary Policy”

Fed Chief Powell will be part of the panel on the discussion titled, “Monetary Policy Challenges In A Global Economy”. The Policy Panel Discussion featuring Powell will be on November 9 at 2 pm, ET. These sessions are scheduled to be web-streamed live on IMF website.

The conference this year will recognize the contributions made by Ken Rogoff to economic theory and public policy. The foremost expert on international economics is Ken Rogoff. Before assuming his present role as Maurits C. Boas Chair of International Economics and Professor of Economics at Harvard University, Rogoff was affiliated with Princeton University, the University of California at Berkeley, and the University of Wisconsin–Madison.

Rogoff was the International Monetary Fund’s Chief Economist from 2001 to 2003. Rogoff holds senior fellow status at the Council on Foreign Relations and is an elected member of the Group of Thirty, the American Academy of Arts and Sciences, and the National Academy of Sciences.

Many of the exceptional mix of economists and policymakers attending the conference were either collaborators, colleagues, or students of Ken Rogoff. Mundell-Fleming Lecturer Mark Aguiar of Princeton University will also speak at the 24th Jacques Polak Annual Research Conference.
