Santa hats and sparkly outfits adorned the crowd Tuesday night at PPG Paints Arena in Uptown Pittsburgh, and with so much holiday bling, there's only one show it could have been for -- singer Mariah Carey's "Merry Christmas One And All!" tour.
Opening the concert with an overture to "Sugar Plum Fairy Introlude" featuring Carey's dancers, the show revealed its snow globe backdrop, which displayed animated, colorful holiday scenes throughout the performance.
Carey, beloved for her vocal range, rose up from underneath the stage wearing a sparkly red dress, and the first song of the night was a soulful rendition of "Hark! The Herald Angels Sing/Gloria (in excelsis Deo)" with heavy drums. From the get-go, Carey was riffing along, impressing the audience.
"Christmas is almost upon us," she told the crowd. "I'm getting excited."
Next, Carey brought out her famous whistle tones in "Oh Santa!," which is an upbeat tune from her second Christmas album, "Merry Christmas II You."
"This is quite the audience," she said, looking out into the filled seats. "I can see all of you if I try hard enough."
