Abstract

The LTE 5000, which Houston-based Compaq introduced last summer, is now available for as little as $2,999. But the LTE Elite, the company's previous high-end portable, is no longer being manufactured.

Sharon Francia, Compaq's director of portable product marketing in North America, said the company also will introduce a new family of low-end notebook computers later this year that will come in well under the LTE 5000's lowest price.
