Abstract

During the past two years public education has been criticised by many people. Lay citizens as well as some educators have leveled adverse criticism at the secondary school ranging from the charge that the schools are not teaching the fundamentals of reading, writing, and American History to the accusation that the instruction of the masses has reduced the educational process to the point that gifted children are neglected.
