Styled along the lines of volumes in the Pittsburgh Series in Bibliography, this primary descriptive bibliography of the writings of Edith Wharton gives a full description of Wharton's fifty-two separate titles and traces the publication history of these books through all American and English printings and editions. The bibliography also lists collections of Wharton's writings, her contributions to books, pamphlets, magazines, and newspapers; and it lists works edited by Wharton. A preface demonstrates how data from the bibliography may be used to trace, not only Wharton's career, but also certain cultural trends and book trade practices of her era.
