Abstract

This is a word-in-context concordance of Pablo Neruda's Canto General, based on the edition published in Mexico by "Ediciones Oceano" in 1952. It also includes an Introduction, a Preliminary Study, and a short Selected Bibliography. The Introduction describes the creation of Canto General and explains how the concordance has been set up. The Preliminary Study uses the concordance to examine how Neruda employs the word "tierra" in the Canto's portrayal of American history, from primeval times to the present century. The Bibliography is limited to the works used in the Preliminary Study and to those that deal with Canto General.
