For horror fans eagerly awaiting the latest installment in the iconic “Omen” franchise, the new prequel, “The First Omen,” promises to terrify viewers by revealing the sinister origins leading to the birth of the antichrist, Damien Thorn, from the 1976 classic. Setting the stage in 1971, the movie follows Sister Margaret, played by Nell Tiger Free, who is mysteriously summoned to a church in Rome, where she becomes ensnared in a dark satanic conspiracy surrounding an unholy pregnancy prophesied to birth the son of Satan himself. With ripe, demonic material to mine from its devilish premise, expectations were high with the hopes that this reimagining could provide a truly terrifying, visceral examination of evil.
