Abstract

This descriptive study investigated the current outcomes assessment activities in academic units offering construction related course-work leading to a four-year degree intended to prepare the graduate for entry level positions in the construction industry and investigated the attitudes of the academic unit administrators toward outcomes assessment. The sample size for this study was eighty-three which represents more than fifty percent of all known colleges and universities offering construction related course-work, in the United States. A questionnaire reflecting current research and practices was the measure used for the collection of the data.

Results of this study indicate that student outcomes assessment, within academic units offering construction related course-work, is still in the developmental stages with just over half of all respondents having some form of a student outcomes assessment program.
