Abstract

Amerindian mythical-philosophical thought goes beyond all logical reason because it keeps its own specific reason in the dimension of symbolic speech, specific to the speech of the origin, in accordance with its cultural reality.

It is from this perspective that we analyzed the "Popol Vuh", sacred book of the Quiche-Maya society, written during the pre-Columbian era in a characteristic writing and preserved among the people in collective oral memory. This book constitutes a testimony and a memorial of the vision of the genesis of this society. Creation predominates there in a cosmo-theogonic, highly religious dimension, expressing the will of a God whose presence is the supreme power which governs the entire universe, from the principle of his divine knowledge, manifest in the Word, light of wisdom, on the basis of which Creation develops.

The philosophical vision is present throughout the process of Creation, perceived in the transcendence of Heaven, a vision of a metaphysical pluralism deployed in cosmic Unity which represents the presence of the God Kabawil, principle of wisdom which generates movement in the cosmos and creates the human being similar to it.

The reason specific to the symbolized word accounts for the objectivity of thinking; it is immanent in the spiritual functions concretized in the meaning of the message which assigns it its own value where the specificity of this philosophical thought is rooted.
