Abstract

The Atikamekw of Opitciwan in Haute-Mauricie have experienced major upheavals in their mode of use and occupation of the territory since the beginning of the century. The latter were not without consequences in terms of their ethnoscientific knowledge and the entire process of intergenerational transmission. While this knowledge loses its previous content and the representatives of the younger generations do not possess as in-depth knowledge as their predecessors, this same knowledge is renewed and enriched under the effect of new planning constraints with which they are confronted. In this dissertation, we propose to demonstrate, based on a particular wildlife species, the moose, how changes in their habits have affected the transmission of knowledge between generations.
