Abstract

The purpose of this quantitative descriptive research study was to determine through statistical comparisons whether there were significant differences in employer willingness to hire released prisoners in the Denver metropolitan area based on type and size of firm. Although all of the employers surveyed were willing to hire someone having no criminal record before hiring a released prisoner, agricultural and construction firms were more willing to hire released prisoners before any other category of firm utilized in this study. Based on the findings of this research study, employment incentives such as guaranteed job contracts or tax breaks should be offered to agricultural and construction firms to increase their willingness to hire released prisoners.
