Abstract

I have employed the corporate planning model (external evaluation, internal evaluation, analysis and proposal of alternative courses of action) on two not-for-profit organizations, Shakespeare Festival/LA and California Repertory. Both organizations had established strategic plans without the use of the corporate model.

I began by surveying the arts/entertainment industry in which the organizations compete. I then identified opportunities and threats that are present within that industry.

Next I analyzed financial data, and viewed the organization through the eyes of the public. This information allowed me to survey strengths and weaknesses of each organization.

I then examined the current strategies of each organization, created a SWOT analysis, and then developed informed effective alternatives for the companies.
