WU Volleyball Team Wins 8th Title In Row
The top-ranked Washington University volleyball team won its eighth consecutive University Athletic Association championship Saturday, defeating second seed Emory University in the finale in Atlanta.
The top-seed Bears (31-5), who have won nine UAA titles in 10 years of league competition, beat the 10th-ranked Eagles 15-8, 15-1, 15-10. Washington U. improved its all-time UAA record to 112-1.
Sophomore middle blocker Jennifer Martz (Ladue) was named the league's Player of the Year, the eighth consecutive year a Washington U. athlete has been named the UAA's best player.
Senior setter Stephanie Habif, senior outside hitter Emmy Sjogren and sophomore outside hitter Jenny Cafazza (Incarnate Word) were named first-team All-UAA.

UMSL Women Tie Victory Mark
The University of Missouri-St. Louis women tied the school record for wins in a season with a 3-1 victory over Wheeling Jesuit in the St. Louis National Women's Classic at UMSL. The 10th-ranked (Division II) Riverwomen are 16-5. Beth Ernst scored twice for UMSL. In the other game, Southern Illinois-Edwardsville routed Ashland 6-1 as Janece Friederich and Shannon Murphy had two goals apiece. SIUE improved to 15-3-2.
