Abstract

Cette thèse consistera à analyser et à commenter une œuvre (publiée et inédite), jusqu'à ce jour relativement vierge, soit celle de l'écrivain acadien Ronald Després, dans le but d'y repérer les principales figures du refoulement, et ceci en la considérant au départ comme un énoncé unique ou uniforme présentant un certain type de locuteur, et en se situant dans la perspective de la «compréhension» globale de cette œuvre, c'est-àdire de l'identification, au-delà du contenu propositionnel de surface, de sa visée pragmatique ou de sa valeur illocutoire. Pour l'exprimer d'une manière plus dynamique, ce projet consistera essentiellement à faire aboutir l'interprétation de cette oeuvre, à réaliser ou à permettre la réussite de l'acte de langage qu'elle présuppose, étant entendu ici, dans la perspective théorique où nous situons notre travail, que l'interprétation de tout énoncé n'est «aboutie», et, d'une manière concomitante, que l'acte de langage qui le fonde n'est «réussi», qu'à la condition expresse que le destinataire reconnaisse clairement «l'intention associée conventionnellement à son énonciation¹)».

Les œuvres achevées de Després (publiées et inédites) comprennent: cinq «pièces radiophoniques» inédites, écrites par Després entre juillet 1954 et septembre 1956; onze «contes», dont sept paraîtront dans L'Évangéline (les deux premiers, en 1956; les cinq autres, en 1962); un roman-sotie, Le Scalpel ininterrompu: journal du docteur Jan von Fries, paru en 1962; trois recueils de poésie, soit Silences à nourrir de sang, Les Cloisons en vertiges et Le Balcon des dieux inachevés, parus respectivement en 1958, 1962 et 1968; une anthologie de ses meilleurs textes intitulée Paysages en contrebande…À la frontière du songe. Choix de poèmes (1956–1972) et publiée aux Éditions d'Acadie en 1974; une pièce de théâtre, «Aux armes!», écrite sous le pseudonyme de Jules Laliberté, et représentée à Ottawa à la fin de l'année 1966². Ses œuvres inachevées, d'autre part, sont essentiellement romanesques: Ciel réversible, qui remonte à 1956; Jolaine-Lola, qui date de 1961; Et la flamme jaillira. This thesis will consist of analyzing and commenting on a work (published and unpublished), until now relatively virgin, that of the Acadian writer Ronald Després, with the aim of identifying the main figures of repression, and this in considering it initially as a unique or uniform statement presenting a certain type of speaker, and placing oneself in the perspective of the overall “understanding” of this work, that is to say the identification, beyond the propositional content surface, its pragmatic aim or its illocutionary value. To express it in a more dynamic way, this project will essentially consist of bringing the interpretation of this work to fruition, of achieving or enabling the success of the speech act that it presupposes, being understood here, in the perspective theoretical where we situate our work, that the interpretation of any statement is only "successful", and, concomitantly, that the speech act which founds it is only "successful", on the condition expresses that the recipient clearly recognizes “the intention conventionally associated with his utterance1)”.

Després' completed works (published and unpublished) include: five unpublished "radio plays", written by Després between July 1954 and September 1956; eleven "tales", seven of which will appear in L'Évangéline (the first two, in 1956; the other five, in 1962); a sotie novel, The Unbroken Scalpel: Diary of Doctor Jan von Fries, published in 1962; three collections of poetry, namely Silences à nourish de sang, Les Cloisons en vertiges and Le Balcon des vins inachieves, published respectively in 1958, 1962 and 1968; an anthology of his best texts entitled Paysages en contraband…At the border of dreams. Choice of poems (1956–1972) and published by Éditions d’Acadie in 1974; a play, “Auxarmes!”, written under the pseudonym Jules Laliberté, and performed in Ottawa at the end of 19662. His unfinished works, on the other hand, are essentially romantic: Cielreversible, which goes back to 1956; Jolaine-Lola, which dates from 1961; And the flame will burst forth.
