Abstract

L'objectif de ce mémoire est de tracer un portrait de l'évolution du discours indigéniste mexicain au vingtième siècle, de façon à démontrer comment cette évolution peut être mise en relation avec les différents modèles de développement économique proposés et mis en application par l'État mexicain au cours de la même période. Chaque chapitre du travail illustre d'abord les grands axes des modèles de développement économique ayant marqué l'histoire socioeconomique du vingtième siècle mexicain. Puis, de façon à correspondre à l'hypothèse de recherche, les chapitres contiennent également une partie présentant le discours tenu par les intellectuels dans les principaux ouvrages portant sur le «problème indien», et une partie faisant état des différentes politiques indigénistes adoptées par le gouvernement, pour expliquer comment l'État se sert du discours des intellectuels pour légitimer ses actions vis-à-vis de la population indigène.

The objective of this dissertation is to draw a portrait of the evolution of Mexican indigenous discourse in the twentieth century, in order to demonstrate how this evolution can be related to the different models of economic development proposed and implemented by the Mexican state during the same period. Each chapter of the work first illustrates the main axes of the economic development models that marked the socio-economic history of the Mexican twentieth century. Then, in order to correspond to the research hypothesis, the chapters also contain a part presenting the discourse held by intellectuals in the main works relating to the "Indian problem", and a part reporting on the different indigenist policies adopted by the government, to explain how the State uses the discourse of intellectuals to legitimize its actions towards the indigenous population.
