DAVID C. CIPOLLONI
David Cipo!Ioni, of Ormond Beach, FL, died January 2, 2024, at the age of 72. Over the years, his unwavering commitment to Montessori principles, influence on adult learners, and dedication to creating enriching learning environments transformed Montessori in Florida and around the world.
Born and raised in a small town in Ohio, he began his career in the field of psychology, earning postgraduate and master's degrees. In 1997, he obtained an Early Childhood Montessori credential and would go on to develop Elementary and Secondary Montessori programs. From 1981 to 2006, he provided consulting services for early childhood agencies in Florida, playing a pivotal role in developing the Pierson Montessori Center in Florida as an Early Childhood program model.
Throughout his career, David significantly contributed to program recognition and accreditation. He coordinated applications for program accreditation by NAEYC, received the Gold Seal certification from the Florida Department of Children and Families, and played a crucial role in program recognition by AMS.
In higher academia, he served as a professor in the Department of Psychology at Bethune-Cookman University (20072020) and as an adjunct instructor at the University of Central Florida and Daytona Beach Community College. His passion for education and leadership skills were further evident in his work at the Montessori Global Research Institute, where he played a pivotal role in founding the Montessori Global school and teacher education program. He was committed to helping children who faced challenges and traumas, and authored the book An Extraordinary Silence: The Emergence of a Deeply Disturbed Child.
