The Cincinnati Reds sent 15 batters to the plate in the first inning Tuesday and scored 10 runs against New York Mets pitchers Ron Darling and Terry Leach in an 11-2 victory.
The Reds were five runs short of the modern National League record for first-inning runs. Brooklyn scored 15 against the Reds in the first on May 21, 1952.
Cincinnati scored six times before Darling got an out.
Chris Sabo hit a three-run home run and Eric Davis a solo home run. Bo Diaz had a two-run single.
The Mets made two errors in the inning, including a three-run error by right fielder Darryl Strawberry.
