Born in the Dominican Republic into a very humble family, she was abandoned by her father at the age of 8 and has lived in Argentina since the age of 12. Singer, composer, model and plastic artist, Mariangel is the latest promise of soul and R&B in Spanish, the Afro-American popular music genre that originated in the United States in the 40's from blues, jazz and gospel.
Mariangel arrived in the country with her sister to settle in Necochea with her mother, who had already been living in the country for several years. There she studied plastic arts at the Orillas del Quequén art school and in the last years of her training she discovered her vocation for acting. In 2017 she decided to move to Buenos Aires to continue training as an actress and singer. These days, one hundred percent dedicated to music, she announces the release of her first song, "Flor de Loto", where she presents her personal sound universe in a very intimate way.
"'Flor de loto' is an extremely self-referential song, it has a lot to do with me and general areas of my life. It is a letter of introduction, a sort of manifesto of my life, my ideals, my struggles, the way I see myself. The song also has a wink regarding ethnic-racial issues, my origin, what shapes me as a person, as a social subject: being a woman, an immigrant, coming from a very, very poor family, being Afro-descendant.
