Atlantic Shores South the Garden State’s first offshore wind project received approval Tuesday from the Department of the Interior.
Comprised of Atlantic Shores Offshore Wind Project 1 and 2, the project will stand between Atlantic City and Long Beach Island. It is anticipated to generate up to 2,800 megawatts of electricity, enough to power nearly 1 million homes.

Adversaries, including a number of Republican lawmakers, activists and other stakeholders, argue about everything from sightlines/proximity to shore and potential impacts to marine life to fishing, tourism and more.
